K’s computer broke again, which means he takes mine so no blogging. Hopefully I am back! :) Here is a little taster of one of our slower moments. I decided one morning it would be a fun treat to do a bit of ‘cooking’ with Jonah. We had done this at a toddler group before and Jonah did not even have a bib. Wow, one minute he was clean the next minute he looked like this. I was home alone so was trying to corral him, get some photos and figure out how to use k’s camera with all the bells and whistles. It was fun and funny, but had to be shared! Enjoy the pics! :)

It will be an adventure for us to learn about parenting two boys, neither one of our families had that. We have talked about renting movies, reading novels and books about brothers and brotherhood. Any suggestions? Also, we want to glean wisdom of parents of multiple boys and guys who are friends of ours who grew up with brothers, this is unchartered territory. What an adventure life is.

Durham is not known for its cultural nightlife, but this weekend was very different. There were throngs of people about, every public area was heaving. Kristian did a great job of capturing the fanfare on the cathedral. There were lights along the river, light instalations in the cathedral, the cloisters and all through out. Jonah had a grand night out, staying up fully 2.5 hours past his normal 6 o’clock bedtime. It was lovely. A little sad it is over, sigh... But celebrations are so fun, no matter how ephemeral, and what embodies that more than light?

Believe it or not, they only do this every other year. What a treat! We had never seen them before, but they were not to be missed. My mom, a pinecone nut, might have taken one away, but as with many things, they do not last if not attached to the source, so the blue color faded. Such a stunning tree. I am glad we were able to see it. A truly unique year. :)

It was an amazing day and it began the most exciting, fun, hard and hilarious journey of our lives. The music was perfect, my bridesmaids were beautiful, the groom was beaming (who can forget that thousand watt smile?!?) and I felt fabulous. So many people travelled far and wide to be there, we really felt surrounded by our community. Since that time others have come into our lives that we feel like were a part of the day (ex. a horrible moment when I questioned myself, why did I not have Melissa, my brother’s wife, in the wedding? Oh right, because I did not know her yet!!!) We have felt so partnered with and loved in this process. Thank you to all of you who have supported, encouraged, laughed, cried, played, frolicked, worked and lived with us over this journey. It has been amazing. Thanks to Kristian who has made it all so fun and worthwhile. May you all have a good day and revel in the things we have in our lives for which we can truly be grateful!

For a trip down memory lane, check out some of our wedding snaps. Shocking to realize it was pre-digital photography! Shock!
